On March 2, the Joint Committee on Agriculture, Forestry and Conservation held a hearing on ME LD 396, and voted 8-4 Ought Not To Pass.  However, the bill is not dead for the session and may still be debated in the House and Senate, especially if HSUS pushes to have the bill move forward.  Maine's state legislative session is scheduled to adjourn on June 14, 2017, but pending bills will carry over to 2018.
