Have Trunk Will Travel will be bringing their elephants to the Nevada County Fair in California for the first time this year, from August 7-11.  This is a chance for the Grass Valley community to meet elephants in person, take a ride, and join Have Trunk Will Travel in their mission of raising donations and awareness for elephant conservation.  

The Nevada County Fair Board of Directors decided at their June 20 meeting to uphold the fair's contract with Have Trunk Will Travel.  However, due to pressure from national animal activists groups, the elephant ride issue will be taken up once again at the Fair Board meeting on Tuesday, July 16 (4:00PM, Ponderosa Hall).

The Fair Board members are receiving thousands of form letters generated from animal rights groups. A short, polite email or letter in support of elephant rides at the Nevada County Fair will be very helpful, and will stand out from the many form letters they receive.  Even if you already wrote to the Board members in June, please send your note again (or send a new one) before the Board meeting on July 16.
