At their 11/20/12 meeting, the Personnel and Animal Welfare Committee of the Los Angeles City Council recommended a ban on performing elephants and a ban on the use of elephant management tools, which will be presented to the full City Council in the coming weeks.  In the meantime, the Los Angeles Department of Animal Services will be meeting with interested parties to discuss next steps.  Please watch the grassroots website at www.grassroots.circusfan.org for continued updates.
