**9/13 Update: the legislation passed the Senate Economic Growth Committee by a vote of 3-2.**

New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak has introduced SB 2508 (Nosey's Law) to prohibit the use of elephants in circuses.  Senator Lesniak is the Chair of the Senate Economic Growth Committee, and the bill is scheduled for a hearing in this committee on Monday, September 12 at 10:30AM.  We do not have the exact bill language yet, but letters of opposition should still be emailed to each Committee member prior to Monday’s hearing.  Politely tell the Committee members that you understand the Committee will be discussing SB 2508 on Monday and that you are OPPOSED to any measure that would prevent elephants from visiting the state of New Jersey.

Please visit the Committee website at http://www.njleg.state.nj.us/committees/ShowCommittee.asp and click on each member for a link to their Comment form (individual email addresses are not available).

Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter!
