Synopsis: Wild animal permits. Provides that a licensed commercial animal dealer is not exempt from the law requiring certain persons to obtain a state wild animal permit. Allows the director of the department of natural resources to adopt rules that: (1) require a permit for each harmful or dangerous wild animal; or (2) allow one permit for all the wild animals contained in a single location. (Current law requires a separate permit for each harmful or dangerous wild animal.)
Effective: July 1, 2013.

A BILL FOR AN ACT to amend the Indiana Code concerning natural and cultural resources.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana:

(a) The director may adopt rules under IC 4-22-2 to require and issue the following:
(1) A permit to possess a wild animal protected by statute or rule.
(2) A permit to possess a wild animal that may be harmful or dangerous to plants or animals.
(b) The rules adopted under this section may do the following:
(1) Require a person to obtain a separate permit
is required for each wild animal described in
this subdivision. subsection (a)(1) possessed by the person.
(2) Allow one (1) permit for all the wild animals contained in a single location.
